108 FACULTY OF MEDICAL SCIENCE REGISTRATION AND ADMISSION OF MEDICAL STUDENTS Requirements of the General Medical Council Registration with the General Medical Council has to be effected by each student when he has qualified at the end of his clinical course The numbers of students commencing the medical curriculum proper Anatomy and Physiology are forwarded to the General Medical Council at the beginning of each session The General Medical Council requires every student to have passed the following examinations before admission to the medical curriculum proper recognised preliminary examination in general education An additional examination or examinations conducted or recognised by one of the medical licensing bodies Notes -The minimum standard of general education required of an applicant in should be "that attested by the possession of certificate bearing evidence that he has passed Matriculation or Entrance Examination of University of Great Britain or Ireland or of Eire or of other examination recognised by such University or by Medical Corporation as equivalent thereto will normally be complied with by passing the First examination or the Conjoint Pre-medical examination or by gaining exemption therefrom as outlined below Requirements of the University of London No one can register as an Internal or as an External student for the degrees of the University of London who is not qualified to matriculate in that University The procedure to be followed in 1952 is the same for all Faculties and is outlined above under General Information on page 42 Those students who desire to sit for particular examination lst as External candidates are required to effect their own registration with the External Registrar University of London Senate House Applicants may be admitted to the 2nd course if they possess General Certificate of Education which includes passes in Chemistry Physics Botany and Zoology or Biology in the case of the London University examination all at Advanced Level
