GENERAL INFORMATION 167 The subjects in the First course are taught in the Faculty of Natural Science Moreover any regular student of the college may take any one class not being laboratory class in any other Faculty without extra fee subject to the approval of the Dean of the Faculty concerned One of the advantages of the courses at King's College is the fact that students there are associated with students of five other Faculties in the life of the college during their pre-clinical course SCHOLARSHIPS AND PRIZES Entrance Scholarships -One Warneford Entrance Scholarship of £40 year for five years and one Sambrooke Scholarship in Medical Science of £40 year for three years are offered annually These generally qualify for supplementation by the Ministry of Education The Worsley Scholarship for men or women who undertake to proceed to India as Missionaries on the completion of their course is also available At the end of the First course the Warneford Scholarship £160 the Rabbeth Scholarships £30 and £15 and the Hare Prize in Zoology are open for competition At the end of the Second course the Alfred Hughes Memorial Prize in Anatomy the Inchley Prize in Pharmacology the Dr John Pickering Prize in Biochemistry the Barbara Wigley Memorial Prize and the Barclay-Smith Prize in Anatomy are open for competition The College also offers two Scholarships each of £40 for one year which may be supplemented by the Ministry of Education to enable students who have passed the Second Medical Examination to read for the Sc Special degree in Anatomy or Physiology The Layton £220 and the Berridge £100 Research Studentships the Daniell Scholarship in Chemistry £40 the Warneford Prizes £25 and £15 Leathes Prize Barry Prize and others are also open to students of this Faculty The majority of the Scholarships and Prizes are open to Regular Students only Jelf Medals are awarded annually one in each Faculty to the students who have most distinguished themselves during their undergraduate course regard being paid to their prominence in the social and athletic activities of the College as well as to their academic proficiency Several scholarships tenable at the Associate Hospitals are open to students in or entering the college Faculty of Medical Science for particulars application should be made to the Secretaries of the Medical Schools of these Hospitals
