COURSES OF STUDY qualification for entry to Special Degree Course and will be considered only in exceptional circumstances In and after 1951 candidates are also required to pass an entrance test as indicated below Geology Any three Science subjects included in the list of Intermediate Science subjects see 141 not necessarily including Geology Geography Any three Science subjects included in the list of Intermediate Science subjects see 141 not necessarily including Geography For entry to Special Degree Course under the Old Regulations Zoology Candidates must pass or gain exemption from the Inter- mediate Science Examination in Zoology and at least two other subjects usually selected from Botany Chemistry Physics No candidate will be admitted direct to the Sc Special Course in Zoology on qualification in Biology Until the revised regulations are introduced candidates will normally be admitted in the first instance to the General Degree Course in Zoology and two other subjects previously taken at the Intermediate stage and will specialise in Zoology at later stage depending on the progress made In and after 1951 candidates are also required to pass an entrance test as indicated below Entrance Test for Botany and Zoology Selected candidates will be required to attend for personal interview and for test both of which will be held at King's College in 1952 on Saturday 15th or 22nd March National Service men are advised to make provisional arrangements to attend on 15th March 1952 All candidates selected will be officially notified by the Sub-Dean or the Tutor to Women Students of the time at which they should attend For entry to General Degree Courses Complete exemption from the Intermediate examination including the subjects of the proposed course except in the case of Geology Candidates offering Botany and Zoology as subjects for the General Degree are strongly advised to take these at Advanced Level in the General Certificate examination but General Biology may in exceptional cases be accepted as an entrance qualification to these courses if the student's general performance reaches high standard FINAL Sc COURSES All students now commence their Final Sc course with their first year in College Students read for either the Sc General or the Sc Special Degree Successful candidates in either examination are awarded First or Second Class Honours or Pass The courses for the Sc Special Degree in Mathematics Physics Chemistry Botany Zoology Geology and Geography are planned on three-year basis candidate for admission to any Special Degree course will be re- quired to show evidence of ability to profit by the course For further information concerning particular Special Degree courses reference should be made to the sections in this prospectus dealing with the
