140 faculty of matural Science COURSES OF STUDY The Faculty provides systematic courses of study in Science suitable for students preparing for the Internal Degrees of the University of London Students are admitted as either Regular or Occasional students Regular students are those taking full-time courses and paying the Composition Fee of their Faculty Occasional students are those paying only the fees for the separate classes attended they are normally expected to attend at least four hours week Students who have passed the Intermediate Science examination or its equivalent before entering the College except as Registered Internal students of the University will be required by the University to spend three years over their undergraduate course before the Internal Degree of Sc can be conferred even though their final examination be passed at the end of the second year see below under Approved Third-Year Courses The attention of students is called to the General College Rules for which see Table of Contents Applications fob Admission Applications from Women Students should reach the Tutor to Women Students not later than the 31st December next before the proposed date of entry Applications from Men Students should reach the Sub-dean of the Faculty of Science not later than the 31st January next before the proposed date of entry and preferably after lst January Applicants are asked to state all the subjects to be included in their course and to give the full title of examinations taken before entry with dates subjects and levels Men applicants who are provisionally accepted will be sent instructions for applying for deferment of national service where necessary Although deferment may be extended to enable student to obtain higher degree or additional qualification after the completion of first degree it may not be extended so as to place the student outside the field of call-up and all students who are medically fit will normally be called up on completion of their course Matriculation No one can be admitted to the University who is not qualified to matriculate The procedure to be followed in 1952 is the same for all Faculties and is outlined above under General Information on page 42 The Regulations therein mentioned also contain information on matric- ulation through General Certificate of Education
