130 FACULTY OF LAWS Mercantile Law Comparative Law of the English and Roman Law of Contract -Conflict of Laws candidate will only be aUowed to take this subject as one of the subjects for his LL examination if he did not take the subject at the LL examination 10 Muhammadan Law 11 Hindu Law 12 Land Law either Law of Landlord and Tenant or Planning Law 13 Administrative Law and Local Government Law 14 Criminology The Examiners may in addition if they see fit examine any candi- date orally LL By Examination with Dissertation in special cases Candidates must submit dissertation which must be record of original work or other contribution to knowledge in some branch of Law The written portion of the examination consists of three papers in any three of the fourteen subjects enumerated above The Notes to subjects and will apply also in this case candidate may be allowed to take the three papers after the expiration of one calendar year from the time of his taking the LL degree or after pursuing one year's course of study for the LL examination No candidate will be allowed to submit his dissertation until he has satisfied the Examiners in the written portion of the examination The Examiners may in addition examine the candidate orally on any part of his work or they may set three-hour paper on the wider aspects of the Dissertation Ill-FOR THE ACADEMIC POSTGRADUATE DIPLOMA The University grants an Academic Postgraduate Diploma in Law to graduates of London and other approved universities who have attended course of study in the University of London extending over not less than one year and have passed the prescribed examination Before admission to the course applicants must submit for approval by the University evidence of their qualifications which should include preliminary training in law The course of study normally consists of lectures on the English Legal Method Candidates will be examined in this subject or with the permission of the University in one of the subjects which for the time being can be offered for the LL cfegree examination and must in addition submit written dissertation affording evidence of serious study and ability to discuss difficult problem critically
