100 FACULTY OF ARTS levels according to the student's proficiency The above arrangements apply to honours and general students alike The General Course Two years is the normal duration of this course and student who has already spent year as registered internal student of the University upon the Intermediate course although elsewhere than in King's College is entitled to graduate after passing the General examination student who on the other hand has completed only two years as registered internal student on the completion of the General course is required by the University to spend third year in the College in attendance upon an approved third year course under the conditions specified below Before sitting for the General examination such students should inform the Sub-Dean of the Faculty and the Registrar of the College of the course they propose to take in their third year For the General Degree three subjects have to be taken which may be selected from the following Greek Spanish Logic Latin Old Norse Theology English Ethics Applied Mathematics French Geography Pure Mathematics German History History of Philosophy Portuguese Law Three papers are set in each subject and the pass fist is published in three divisions Honours are not awarded The Honours Degree may be taken in any one of the follow- ing branches but except in the cases of Classics English History Mathe- matics and Philosophy the candidate will be required to take sub- sidiary subject also In most subjects the post-Intermediate honours course extends over three years but if it should happen that student passed final honours examination after only two years as registered internal student he or she would be required to spend third year of approved study under the conditions specified below Classics English History Latin with subsidiary Greek French Philosophy Greek with subsidiary Latin Geography Portuguese Mathematics Pure and Applied German Spanish Appficants for French Honours are required to take short test set by the department For applicants still at school the paper will be sent to their respective schools in the first half of the year at dates to be arranged-if possible during the Lent term Other arrangements will be made for applicants who have left school Applied Mathematics may not be offered except in conjunction with Pare Mathematics Classes in Law will be held only ii enough students present themselves
