COURSES OF STUDY 101 Intermediate Sc Course Students not already exempted before entering the College take the course for the Intermediate Science Examination in their first year Four subjects are to be chosen from the following list Pure Mathematics Zoology Applied Mathematics Geology Physics Geography Chemistry War Studies Botany The College does not oifer Intermediate Science courses in either General Principles of Biology or General Physiology Candidates who offer Botany and Geography with either Geology or Zoology are permitted to select Chemistry as their fourth subject With this exception one at least of the subjects must be chosen from the first three on the fist Students who take Physics but do not take Pure Mathematics will be required to attend special class in Pure Mathematics which will occupy one hour week in the first and second terms of the session The time-table does not normally permit students of King College to attend courses in more than one of the following subjects Applied Mathematics Geology and Zoology student with Referred Subject may sit for the examination in that subject as an Internal Student either in November or in June Candidates wishing to take the examination in November should consult the College Registration Clerk with regard to their entry student who fails in the Intermediate Examination in June is not allowed to sit again before the following June except on the recom- mendation of the College student who fails to sit for the Intermediate Examination at the appropriate time or fails in that examination in all four subjects will not except for special reasons be allowed to repeat the course Final So Courses These courses are normally taken by students during their second and third years in College but student who has already obtained exemption from the Intermediate Science Examination before entering the College commences such course in his first year Students read for either the Sc General or the Sc Special Degree Successful candidates in either examination are awarded First or Second Class Honours or Pass The course for the Sc Special Degree in Mathe- matics is planned on three-year basis but during the war arrangements are made to enable students to complete the course in two years Students should consult the Dean with regard to their choice of subjects candidate for admission to any Special Degree course will be required to show evidence of ability to' profit by the course For further information concerning admission to particular Special Degree As war emergency measure students may under certain conditions obtain exemption from fourth Intermediate subject by passing Part of the Sc General Examination in Physics at the end of their first year in College ן During the war courses in this subject can be taken only by special arrangement the University courses in Var Studies are suspended See 119
