COURSES OF STUDY 69 Intermediate Course Students not already exempted before entering the College take the course for the Intermediate Arts Examination in their first year Four subjects must be offered which must be selected as follows and two languages of which one except in the case of natives of Asia or Africa must be either Latin with Roman History or Greek with Greek History and the other may be English Both Latin and Greek may be taken and any two subjects not selected under and The College offers courses in the following subjects Latin with Roman History Logic Greek with Greek History Ethics English Pure Mathematics French Applied Mathematics German Physics fltahan Chemistry Spanish Geology Portuguese Botany History Zoology Ancient History War Studies Geography English Legal System student with Referred Subject may sit for the examination in that subject as an Internal student either in November or in June Candidates wishing to take the examination in November should consult the College Registration Clerk with regard to their entry student who fails in the Intermediate Examination in June is not allowed to sit again before the following June except on the recom- mendation of the College student who fails to sit for the Intermediate Examination at the appropriate time or fails in that examination in more than two subjects will not except for special reasons be allowed to repeat the course Final Courses While the final course may be taken in two years after the Inter- mediate Examination and both the University and the College courses are planned on two-year basis it is generally desirable that student should devote three years to an Honours course For the General Degree three subjects have to be taken which may be selected from the following Greek Spanish Logic Latin Old Norse Theology English Ethics Applied Mathematics French Geography Pure Mathematics German History War Studies Portuguese Law History of Philosophy Three papers are set in each subject and the pass list is published in three divisions Honours are not awarded University Courses in these subjects are suspended during the War but see 80 Arrangements can be made for courses in certain other subjects not in this list to be taken at other colleges For the full list of approved subjects which may be offered at this examination reference should be made to the University Regulations
