08 faculty of Hrt5 COURSES OF STUDY The Faculty provides systematic courses of study in Arts suitable for students preparing for the Internal Degrees and Diplomas of the University of London Students are admitted as either Regular or Occasional Students Regular students are those taking full-time courses and paying the Composition Fee of their Faculty Occasional students are those paying only the fees for the separate classes attended they are normally expected to attend at least four hours week Students who have passed the Intermediate Arts Examination or its equivalent before entering the College except as Registered Internal Students of the University may be required by the University to spend three years over their undergraduate course even though their final examination be passed at the end of the second year see below under Approved Third-Year Courses The attention of students is called to the General College Rules for which see Table of Contents I-FOR THE DEGREE OF THE UNIVERSITY OF LONDON Matriculation Before entering the Faculty to study for the Degree in Arts it is necessary to have matriculated in the University of London Detailed particulars of the Matriculation Examination and information con- cerning exemption therefrom may be obtained from the Secretary to the Matriculation and School Examinations Council University of London Present address Richmond College Richmond Surrey -Students intending to enter the Faculty of Arts should note that either Latin or Greek is compulsory in the Intermediate Examina- tion except in the case of natives of Asia or Africa who may apply to the Academic Registrar for permission to substitute certain other languages No student is allowed by the University to take Latin in the Intermediate Examination who has not taken it in the Matricula- tion Examination or its equivalent at latest in the preceding January In practice however students are not admitted to the Intermediate Arts course at King's College unless they have fulfilled the require- ments with regard to Matriculation Latin at latest by September in the year of entry pass in the Alternative Lower Paper in Latin does not qualify for admission to the Intermediate Examination Students taking Hiffber School Examinations before entering the College are advised to acquaint themselves with the University Regulations concerning exemption from the Inter- mediate Examination
