64 PRIZES VIII -IN THE FACULTY OF ENGINEERING Siemens prises These Prizes were founded in 1883 by Sir Charles William Siemens Each Prize consists of books or instruments to the value of £5 The Prizes are open to all regular students of the Faculty of En- gineering who have been placed in the First or Second Class in the Examination in Engineering Metallurgy The Prizes will be awarded annually upon the results of the second part of the Examination for the Degree or Diploma in Engineering to the two candidates who shall have most distinguished themselves in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering respectively Walter Smitb pri3es These Prizes were founded in 1919 by members of the Governing Bodies and the Staff of King's College as testimonial to Walter Smith upon his retirement from the office of Secretary of the College which he had held since 1895 The Prizes consist of books or instruments the first to the value of £5 and the second to the value of £2 5s The Prizes are open to regular students in the Faculty of Engineer- ing The First Prize will be awarded upon the results of the second part of the Examination for the Degree or Diploma in Engineering to the regular student who shall have most distinguished himself in Civil Engineering The Second Prize will be awarded to the regular student who shall have most distinguished himself in the subjects of the first part of the Examination for the Degree or Diploma in Engineering Jameson prise This Prize was founded in 1935 by Alexander Hope Jameson Sc Inst Inst Water Professor of Civil Engineering in the College from 1912 to 1935 The Prize consists of books and or instruments to the value of £1 10s The Prize is open to regular first-year students of the Faculty of Engineering taking the Intermediate course The Prize will be awarded upon the results of the Examination held at the end of the Intermediate course Greene prise See above under Section VI
