56 PRIZES-ARTS Β -Prizes open to Students in the Faculty of Arts only Brewer fl ri3e for Englisb literature anb 1bistor This Prize was founded in 1878 by the friends and colleagues of the Rev John Sherren Brewer Professor of English Literature and Modern History from 1865 to 1878 Under the original conditions the Prize was to be awarded for English Literature and Modern History in alternate years but in 1930 the Delegacy added from general College funds sufficient capital to make it possible to award one prize in each subject in each year Each Prize consists of books to the value of £5 The Prizes are open to all regular students of the Faculty of Arts The Prizes will be awarded annually one on the result of the year's work in English Literature and the other on the result of the year's work in Modern History imarr Memorial lpri3e This Prize was founded in 1903 by Mrs Warr in memory of her husband George Charles Winter Warr Professor of Classical Literature in King's College from 1879 to 1901 The Prize consists of books to the value of about £3 The Prize is open to all regular students who have been in at- tendance during the session at the classes in Latin Greek and Ancient History The Prize will be awarded annually to the student who in the opinion of the Principal and the Head of the Department of Classics shall have most distinguished himself in the subjects of Latin Greek and Ancient History IRonalb Burrows fl&emorial pri3e This Prize was founded in 1921 from funds contributed by the colleagues and friends of Ronald Montagu Burrows Litt Ph Principal of King's College from 1913 to 1920 The Prize is of the value of about £30 and is awarded annually to graduate of British University or of the University of Athens Preference will be given to student who has graduated in Honours from King's College or King's College Theological Department The Prize is awarded in the case of students who have graduated from the College after consideration of the results of the University of London Honours Examinations and in the case of other Graduates
