GENERAL INFORMATION 19 LIBRARIES The Libraries of the College contain 96 000 volumes 45 000 of which are in the General Library In addition to the General Library the College has the following departmental libraries -1 Anatomy and Physiology Botany Chemical Engineering Chemistry Classics Education Electrical Engineering Engineering Civil and Mechanical English the Skeat and Furnivall 10 French 11 Geography 12 Geology 13 German 14 History Ιδ Mathematics 16 Phar- macology 17 Physics 18 Psychology 19 Spanish 20 Zoology Library Rules and details of special collections such as the Marsden Library will be found on pages 41-44 of tho Calendar for 1939-40 The Library will be open during term time from 30 to 15 from Mondays to Fridays and from 30 to on Saturdays In vacations it will be open from 10 to and to 30 from Mondays to Fridays except during parts of August and other periods when it is closed for cleaning MUSEUMS Kino George the Third Queen Victoria presented to King College in 1841 the valuable collection of Mechanical Models and Philosophical Instruments formed by King George the Third Part of the coUection is con- tained in the Museum which bears his name but the greater portion has been transferred on loan to the Scienco Museum at South Kensington The Museum also contains the valuable collection of the late Sir Charles Wheatstone and from time to time extensive additions have been made by the Council and by the donations of private individuals Anatomy The Anatomical Museum contains valuable collection presented to the College by the widow of the late Professor Hughes and also collections presented by the late Sir David Ferrier The collections and exhibits are under the care of the Professors of the several subjects and students wishing to have access to any of the specimens must obtain permission
