FACULTY OF THEOLOGY 199 Special University Entrance Examination Persons over twenty-three years of age are allowed by the University to take the Special University Entrance Examination instead of the ordinary Matriculation Examination Mathematics is not compulsory and New Testament Greek may be offered Full particulars can be obtained from the External Registrar University of London Rich- mond College Richmond Surrey College Entrance Examination This provides passing-out examination from the Preliminary Year course and also an entrance examination to the course It is not accepted by the University as exempting from Matriculation nor does it admit to the course for the degree The Theological Professorial Board reserves the right of judging each case on its merits and of insisting that candidate shall sit for the Matriculation Examination if on the ground of age or general attainments such course seems desirable in the interests of the candidate and of the College Tho examination is held at the end of the Long Vacation candidates must satisfy the examiners in the following subjects Greek Latin English Logic or Mathematics and Ancient or English History They will be expected to show an adequate knowledge of the ground covered by Nunn's Elements of New Testament Greek edition or book of similar standard and to translate passages from St John -ix with parsing Copies of previous question papers are not issued The papers in Latin or Greek or both at this examination may be taken by students who have not passed in these subjects in an examination which would otherwise qualify them for admission to the Faculty Candidates who desire further information or who contemplate seeking permission to sit for this examination should communicate with the Dean Exemption from the College Entrance Examination In addition to the above examinations the undermentioned when passed in subjects which include Latin and Greek admit to the course for the only If the subjects in which the student has passed do not include Latin and Greek these may be taken at the College Entrance Examination as indicated above The Oxford or Cambridge School Certificate Examinations The Examination for Higher Certificates of the Oxford and Cambridge Joint Board Responsions at Oxford Previous Examination at Cambridge Parts II and III One Examination after Matriculation in Trinity College Dublin The Durham University Matriculation Examination Examinations for the title of Associate in Arts of any of the recognised University Colleges in England The Senior Central Welsh Board Examination The Examination for the Senior Certificate of the College of Preceptors Matriculation Examinations in Colonial and other Universities The General School Examination of the University of London
