COURSES OF STUDY 173 Third Yeak Examination The subjects of this Examination and courses for it are identical with those of the Part II Degree Examination see above-Final Sc Engineering Courses Candidates for the Diploma are required to pass in not less than five of the subjects in one of the Groups or and to attain standard of marks in the combined Second and Third Year Examinations equivalent to at least Second Class Candidates for the Certificate are required to pass in not less than four of the subjects in one of the Groups or The Diploma is accepted by the Institution of Civil Engineers as exempting from Sections and Β of the Associate Membership Examination provided that an Examination in foreign language has been passed either at the Entrance Examination or Matriculation Examination or at some later stage The Diploma is accepted by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers as exempting from Sections and Β of the Associate Membership Examination The Diploma or Certificate is aocepted by the Institution of Electrical Engineers as exempting from the Associate Membership Examination provided that electrical subjects are taken The Certificate or Diploma of student who has satisfactorily undertaken not less than four months' practical training during his course will be endorsed to that effect on production of certificate from the employer -In all subjects for the Diploma and Certificate other than Mathematics Engineering Metallurgy and Engineering Geology when this option is available an examination of the student's course work forms an integral part of the examination IV-SPECIAL LECTURES AND COURSES Special Lectures are arranged to be given during the Session by Specialists in subjects connected with Civil Mechanical and Electrical Engineering These lectures unless otherwise stated are free to students of the Engineering Faculty of the College and are also open to other persons without fee For particulars see below at the end of Syllabuses of Courses
