164 FACULTY OF ENGINEERING I-COURSES FOR THE Sc ENGINEERING DEGREE OF THE UNIVERSITY OF LONDON Matriculation Before entering the Faculty to study for the Degree in Engineering it is necessary to have matriculated in the University of London Detailed particulars of the Matriculation Examination and information concerning exemption therefrom may be obtained from the Secretary to the Matriculation and School Examinations Council University of London Present address Richmond College Richmond Surrey It is desirable that the subjects of Matriculation should include Chemistry Elementary Mathematics and Modern Foreign Language Students who have not passed the Matriculation Examination of the University of London may apply for permission to attend the regular degree courses but such students will be eligible only for the College Diploma or Certificate in Engineering and will be required to pass before entry the College Entrance Examination Particulars of this Examination are given below under Course for the College Diploma Intermediate So Engineering First-year students take the courses for the Special Intermediate Examination in June Five subjects are required as follows Pure Mathematics Applied Mathematics Physics Heat Electricity and Magnetism Engineering Drawing One of the following subjects fSound and Optics Chemistry Geology student who fails in June may be allowed at the discretion of the College Faculty of Engineering to sit for the Special Intermediate Examination in September when this is held student who has been referred in any subject may sit for the examination in that subject either in September or in November as an Internal student or in the following June Candidates wishing to take the examination in November should consult the College Registration Clerk with regard to their entry Reference is not permitted at the September examination student who fails to sit for the Intermediate Examination at the appropriate time or fails in four subjects of the examination will not except for special reasons be allowed to repeat the course Students who have passed the Intermediate Sc Science or an examination exempting therefrom and who propose to enter the Second Year Engineering Course are advised to consult the Dean as to the additional requirements for the Intermediate Sc Engineering Ac- commodation will be provided during the month of September for students who wish to begin the preparation of the additional subjects before the opening of the session For full particulars syllabus etc see the University Regulations in the Faculty of Engineering for Internal Students Tdis subject is not normally taught In the College to Engineering Students but may be offered by candidates entering in September to complete exemption from Intermediate
