158 FACULTY OF MEDICAL SCIENCE ANATOMY Head of the Department Professor Thomas Nicol Sc Edin The following courses of instruction are given Yj-Junior Course Michaelmas and Lent terms hrs This is an introductory course to be taken by all students in their first year of Anatomy dealing with the principles of Anatomy in relation to the Skeletal Muscular Vasoular and other systems of the body -Neurological Anatomy Easter term hrs senior course devoted to the Anatomy of the Central Nervous System and the Organs of special sense Y3-Human Embryology Michaelmas and Lent terms hrs This course is to be taken by all students in their second year of Anatomy Y4-Practical Anatomy The Dissecting Room is open from to 30 daily except Saturday when it is closed at midday The Practical Course is conducted under the supervision of the two Professors assisted by the Lecturers and Demonstrators Students are required to undergo periodical examinations on the part they are dissecting Ys-Demonstrations on Regional Anatomy and Tutorial Classes in Osteology are also conducted in each term of the course but students are required to attend only the demonstrations and tutorial classes dealing with such parts as they may be dissecting Students in their 5th term are advised to attend if possible all the demonstrations Examinations -Class Examinations are held at intervale Sc Special in Human Anatomy and Morphology Special courses of instruction will be provided for approved medical students who may wish to take this degree One year's further study is required after completing the 2nd examination and before commencing hospital work Particulars of the work to be covered and other important information regarding registration etc is given in the University Red Book Anatomy for Dental Students This course consists of series of lectures and demonstrations designed to meet the requirements of the Second Examination for the Licence in Dental Surgery of the Royal College of Surgeons Classes hrs weekly throughout the year Courses in Dental Anatomy and Histology are given in the Michaelmas and Lent terms
