80 king's college london COLLEGE SOCIETIES Permission from the Principal is requisite before forming any Society and the Rules must be submitted to him for approval Full particulars of all College Societies are contained in the official handbook of the Union Society UNION SOCIETY University op London Kino's College Patron The Principal President Price Th Vice-Presidents Smallman Townsend Arts Senior Woman Student Miss Gallop Sci Secretary Broadbent Sci Assistant Secretaries Upton Miss Robinson Arts Treasurer Shovelton Secretary of the College The objects of the Union Society as set out in its rules and con- stitution are -to promote social intercourse amongst its members and throughout the College the success of students' clubs and the interests of students generally and for this purpose to provide means of recreation Membership of the Society is open to every present regular student of the College to members of the Staff and to occasional students Occasional students may become members for one year only on the recommendation of the Dean of the Faculty in which they are registered The Annual Subscription for regular students is £1 12s 6d which is included in the tuition fee paid to the College No further sub- scription is payable to any of the Athletic Clubs except the Boat Clubs the Golf Club Rifle Club Boxing Club Fencing Club Swimming Clubs and Physical Training Club The Annual Subscription for past regular students and occasional students is £1 12s 6d No past member of the Society may take part in the activities of any Athletic Club The control of the several students' clubs and societies is vested in the Union Society to which all the Athletic Clubs and most of the Societies are affiliated The business of the Society is conducted through an Executive Committee on which the students of all the Faculties are represented The Executive Committee meets monthly during the term it is assisted in the conduct of the Society's affairs by seven student sub-committees viz the Finance Sub-Committee the Athletic Sub- Committee the Debates Sub-Committee the Entertainments Sub-
