peizes 07 The next award will be made in the Lent Term 1938 Essays must be sent to the Secretary of the College not later than the second Wednesday in December 1937 -Prizes open to Students in the Faculty of Theology only IRnowling Sermon Ipri3e The Friends and former Pupils of the Reverend Richard John Knowling Canon of Durham formerly Professor of Exegesis of the New Testament at King's College presented to the College at his request the sum of £35 15s being part of testimonial offered to him for the purpose of founding Prize to bear his name The Prize which is of the value of £1 2s is open to regular Students of the Theological Faculty in their final year The Prize is awarded for the best written sermon preached in Chapel Worbswortb Xattn fl ri3es The Council gives to the Faculty of Theology in each year two Prizes in memory of Bishop Wordsworth by whom for some years these Prizes were presented These Prizes the first of which is of the value of £3 3s and the second of the value of £2 2s will be awarded annually to the two students who show the greatest proficiency in general Latin examination to be held at the beginning of the Easter Term provided that sufficiently high standard has been reached The prizes can be competed for by any member of the Faculty but no student who has won the Senior Prize may enter for the examination in subsequent year The examination will consist of one three-hour paper containing questions of grammar syntax composition and unseen passages for translation from Classical Authors and the Vulgate Names of candidates must be sent to the Dean before the beginning of the Easter Term flMumptre pri3e for Englisb Xanguage anb Xiterature The Friends and former Pupils of the Very Rev Edward Hayes Plumptre Dean of Wells formerly Professor of Pastoral Theology at King's College presented to the College the sum of £128 9s 5d for the purpose of founding Prize to bear his name The Prize which is of the value of £5 is open to regular Students of the Theological Faculty who have been in attendance during any of the three preceding terms
