THE THEOLOGICAL DEPARTMENT OF KING'S COLLEGE LONDON UNIVERSITY OF LONDON ANNUAL REPORT OF THE COUNCIL FOR THE SESSION 1935-36 Presented to the COURT of the COLLEGE on Tuesday December 1936 at Death of His Majesty Kino George Patron of the College On the occasion of the lamented death of His Majesty King George Patron of the College loyal Address of condolence was presented by the College to His Majesty King Edward VIII The text of the Address which was signed by the Chairman of the Council the Chairman of the Delegacy the Principal the Dean and the Secretary was as follows To The King's Most Excellent Majesty May it please Your Majesty The Council and the Delegacy of King's College humbly and dutifully request that Your Majesty will be pleased to accept the respectful sympathy of the members of King's College London in the sorrow which has befallen Your Majesty in the death of Your Majesty's beloved and august Father His late Most Gracious Majesty King George of blessed and glorious memory and an assurance of the loyal devotion of this Society to Your Majesty's Throne and Person The following gracious reply was received through His Majesty's Secretary of State for Home Affairs have had the honour to lay before The King the Loyal and Dutiful Address of the Council and Delegacy of King's College on the occasion of the lamented death of His late Majesty King George the Fifth and have received the King's Commands to convey to your Lordship His Majesty's grateful Thanks for the assurances of sympathy and devotion to which it gives expression Petition with regard to the office of Patron of the College was submitted to His Majesty King Edward VIII by the Corporation of the
