general information 43 reduction equal to 20 per cent in the tuition fees is made in the case of boys who have passed at least five terms in King's College School or Strand School and who enter the College direct from the School Regular Student may take any Class not being Laboratory Class in any other Faculty at reduction of 20 per cent in the specified fee of the class LIBRARIES Librarian Robert Hutton Assistant Librarian Arthur Percy Howse Assistants Agnes Elise Walker Henry Arthur Harvey Student Librarians Eric Cumbers Thomas Lawson The General Library of the College contains some 45 000 volumes of books and periodicals the greater number of these volumes being on open shelves In addition to the General Library there are The Marsden Library consisting of books bequeathed by Dr William Marsden containing unique and rare editions of works dealing with different languages The oriental books from this collection have been deposited on loan at the School of Oriental Studies and in their place books on History Science and other subjects have been transferred to King's College copy of the printed catalogue of the whole collection by Dr Marsden is kept in the Librarian's Room The Wheatstone Library bequeathed to the College by Pro- fessor Sir Charles Wheatstone which consists of valuable books on Electricity and kindred subjects up to the year 1875 The Skeat and Furnivall Library formed from the libraries of Professor Skeat and Dr Furnivall The books were presented to the English Department by the late Mrs Skeat and Dr Percy Furnivall The Ronald Burrows' Library of Mediaeval and Modern Greek dealing with Byzantine History and with the language and literature of Modern Greece This Library includes the gift from Dr William Miller of some 600 volumes from his own collection The Frida Mond Collection which consists of books and pictures for the most part connected with Goethe and is permanently lodged in the German Department large and valuable collection of Zoological and other works which formed the private library of the late Rev Stebbing and Fellow of the College It is housed in the Zoological Department The Maurice collection from the library of Maurice Professor at King's College 1840-1853 presented by his grandson Major-Gen Sir Frederick Maurice
