xxxu ANNUAL REPORT Departmental Notes Seminar Class in the Methods of Teaching Geography was instituted during the Easter Term and was taken by Mr Brown The equipment of the Department has been augmented by the pur- chase of radio-gramophone This has already been used as an aid to speech-training classes and it is hoped next Session to employ it regularly in the study of broadcast lessons to schools Systematic arrangements have now been made for students to see special exhibitions of new educational films during the Session comprehensive collection of illustrative material for use in the teaching of different subjects has been commenced This material has been chiefly obtained from the Museums and Galleries of London and the Provinces and will form an integral part of the Reference Library DEPARTMENT OF JOURNALISM During the Session several important changes were made in the Course for the Journalism Diploma Mr Tom Clarke formerly Editor of the News Chronicle and journalist of great and varied experience became Director of Practical Journalism There has been great activity on the practical side and students now regularly visit police courts meetings of the London County Council and other public events as part of their training By the courtesy of Sir Roderick Jones of Reuters ticker machine has been placed in the Journalism Room for the use of students Number of Students let Year 38 2nd Year 30 Total 68 Results of Examination In the Final Examination for the Diploma for Journalism 19 students gained the Diploma and distinctions were awarded FACULTY OF LAWS Number of Students Registered at King's College Reading for Degree Day Evening LL Revision Class Occasional Research General students taking Law 73 92 15 196
