ANNUAL REPORT representative by the Surrey County Council in 1926 and continuously since that date has given devoted and valuable service to the College From 1926 he has also served upon the Finance Committee of the Delegacy man of indefatigable energy and enthusiasm he rendered great public service as distinguished member of the Surrey County Council and in many different spheres made notable contribution to the cause of education particular mention may be made of his con- nection with the Girls' Public Day School Trust and his long association with the Governing Body of King's College School at Wimbledon Within this College he threw himself with characteristic energy into every detail of its management and placed freely at its disposal both his natural gifts of intellect and his trained ability as lawyer He was ever ready to champion its cause and if occasion arose to fight its battles In the recent development of the Faculty of Laws he took the keenest interest and gave both official and unofficial help in pro- moting its progress In particular the legal section of the College Library owes not little to his generous gifts For King's College he had an enthusiastic affection and his feeling was reciprocated It is with deep sense of personal loss that his colleagues record their gratitude for his services and they desire to convey to Mrs Edwardes Jones and the members of his family their sincere sympathy in their irreparable loss Sir Ronald Wilberforce-Allen whose sudden death at the early age of forty-six occurred during the Long Vacation was an old student of the College who joined the Delegacy in July 1935 He graduated in the Faculty of Arts in the College and entered the profession of the Law as solicitor He served during the War as Lieutenant in the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve Both on the St Albans City Council and for time in the House of Commons he had taken an active part in civic and political life He was an eloquent lay preacher and prominent in the counsels of the Free Churches The Delegacy mourn the untimely death of former student of the College who had early made his mark in public affairs and the loss of loyal and able colleague The Delegacy also regret to record the resignation of Miss Faithfull who was Vice-Principal of the Women's Department of the College from 1894 to 1907 and became member of the Delegacy in 1923 Her knowledge of affairs and her wide experience of the problems connected with women's education have proved of signal benefit to the Delegacy Another resignation which the Delegacy have accepted with regret is that of Brig -General Sir Harold Hartley The following appointments to the Delegacy were made by the Senate in the course of the Session Sir Paul Latham Bart Mr Fuller the Rev Austen representing the Surrey County Council and Mr Salmon nominated by the Professorial Board of King's College in place of Mr Combridge Mr Power has been elected Vice-Chairman of the Delegacy
