FACULTY OF THEOLOGY 275 Greek Testament Ecclesiastical History Philosophy of Religion Biblical and Historical Theology Students desiring to take Theology as part of their course should consult the Dean SUMMARY OF COURSES Students who have passed the London Matriculation Examination or an Examination recognised by the University as excusing from Matriculation are admitted forthwith to either of the three years' courses detailed in the Time-tables viz for Diploma only or for the University Degree of and Diploma Students are strongly advised to adopt the second of these two courses If the student has not passed in Greek and Latin he will be examined in these subjects to test his ability to benefit from the lectures see 276 II Students who have not passed London Matriculation or an equivalent may adopt one of the following courses They may enter the Preliminary Year and receive full propara- tion for the University Matriculation Examination in the subjects detailed in the Time-table viz Greek Latin Mathematics History English No previous knowledge of Greek or Latin is required for admission to the Course but intending students should if possible begin the study of Greek and Latin without delay The course is for one year October to June and prepares candidates for the September Matriculation list of the Greek and Latin books used in the classes is given on 280 By special arrangement and in exceptional cases courses can be provided in subjects other than those detailed but it is to be noted that for the University Examination Mathematics and English are compulsory subjects the College requires the student to satisfy the Theological Board that he has an adequate knowledge of Greek and Latin before he proceeds with the or Degree Course The Dean has the power in exceptional cases to allow student to substitute Logic for Mathematics in the Preliminary Year course In such cases the student cannot sit for the London Matriculation and is therefore debarred from reading for the University Degree and can obtain the Diploma only Students who have not passed the London Matriculation or an equivalent may in the second place make application to the Theological
