FACULTY OF THEOLOGY 267 whole of the three years previous to their application to the Bishops for acceptance as Candidates Students who will be 30 years of age or over at the end of their Course are warned that Bishops do not usually accept for Ordination men over 30 years of age unless previously known to them EXHIBITIONS AND PRIZES EXHIBITIONS -A sum of money amounting to £500 year is granted by the Ecclesiastical Commissioners from the City Parochial Charities Fund to Students who are prepared to be ordained in the Diocese of London Rochester Southwark St Albans or Chelmsford It is assigned as follows Six Exhibitions of £50 per annum to applicants from among the following Graduates of any University in the Empire Members of the Faculty who have passed the Intermediate Examination Five Exhibitions of £20 per annum to matriculated Students of the University of London on condition of their reading for the Candidates may be required to pass special examination -Candidates for the above Exhibitions must send in their names to the Dean on or before June 20th in each year In the event of there not being sufficient number of candidates qualified for the above Exhibitions the balance may be used at the discretion of the Dean for granting Bursaries to regular day Students who are reading for the -A number of Bursaries are given through the under the will of the late Mr Richards to enable students to spend their final year in residence at the Hostel -A number of Sambrooke Exhibitions not exceeding £20 in value arising from legacy bequeathed to the College by Thomas Godfrey Sambrooke are given at the discretion of the Dean to Students of the Second Year who are in need of assistance -Students in this Faculty may compete for the Worsley Scholar- ship of the College and for the Medical Missionary Studentship awarded from time to time by the -The Centenary Scholarships and Bursaries Fund was estab- lished in 1929 out of monies subscribed to the Centenary Appeal Fund and earmarked for Scholarships and Bursaries in the Theological Department The income of the Centenary Scholarships and Bursaries Fund shall be allotted annually by the Dean for Bursaries for promising regular day students who have satisfactorily completed the First Year Course such Bursaries
