FACULTY OF ENGINEERING 231 Pinal Course Ζ -Engineering Geology -Third Year Michaelmas and Lent Terms Lectures and practical work Wednesdays 10-1 The subjects treated in this Course include the Geology of Water- supply Building-materials Road-metal Ores Abrasives etc In the practical part of the Course geological problems connected with tunnel driving shaft sinking and formation of foundations will be considered as also the examination under the microscope of building stones and road stones This Course is open only to those Students who have some previous knowledge of Geology Field Close -A Class for field-work in Geology is formed in the Easter Term April-June and excursions are made on Saturday afternoons to localities of geological interest in the London district This Class is open to Regular Students without extra payment Other Students may join the Field-Class on payment of Fee The Tennant Prize in Geology of the value of about £7 10 may be awarded for proficiency at the annual examination upon the year's work MATHEMATICS Pure and Applied Pure Mathematics -Intermediate Course Four hours per week Algebra Plane and Solid Geometry Co-ordinate Geometry of the straight line and circle Trigonometry Mensuration Introduction to Differential and Integral Calculus Applied Mathematics Yj -Intermediate Course Three hours per week Statics Kinematics Kinetics Hydrostatics Tutorial Class is also held on alternate Mondays 2-5 Advanced Mathematics Pure and Applied Final Course Second Year Four hours per week Differential and Integral Calculus Higher Algebra and Trigono- metry Co-ordinate Geometry Introduction to Differential Equations Dynamics of Particle and of Rigid Body zt Third Year Two hours week Spherical Trigonometry Co-ordinate Geometry in three dimensions Differential Equations Rigid Dynamics Fourier's Series Vector Analysis
