FACULTY OF MEDICAL SCIENCE 199 CHEMISTRY Head of the Department Smiles Sc Daniell Professor Students intending to sit for the First Examination will attend Lecture Course on General Chemistry and will work in the Chemical Laboratories for six hours week during the Michaelmas Term and three hours week during the subsequent terms Conjoint Board Students will attend courses on Inorganic Chemistry and Organic Chemistry They will also work in the Laboratories three hours week throughout the Session S3 For Second Students special Course in Organic Chemistry is provided with corresponding practical work Ye All these Courses with the exception of commence in October and go on for the duration of the academic year No special provision of any kind can be made for students who arrive after the beginning of the Session Synopsis of Classes Ρj -M 2-3 Tu and Th 11-12 Ρ -M 3-6 throughout the Session and 10-1 Michaelmas Term only Sj -M 2-3 Tu and Th 11-12 Sf -Tu 2-3 Lent and Easter Terms only -F 10-1 S4 -F 9-10 Dental Metallurgy BOTANY AND PLANT BIOLOGY Head of the Department Professor Gates Ph Sc LL This Course comprises Lectures and Practical Work in Botany required for the First Examination of the University of London ρ -Elementary Botany Lectures Tu and 2-3 The Lectures treat of the general principles of Plant- Morphology Histology Physiology Cytology Heredity and Evolution and will be illustrated by fresh and dried specimens of plants museum material microscopic preparations and large collection of diagrams drawings and lantern slides -Practical Work -Tu 3-6 throughout the Session In the Practical Class the Students will examine the structure of the tissues and organs of the various types prescribed for the First Examination the work being arranged in connection with the Lectures Ps -Revision Course Lecture Tu 10-11 Practical 2-5 during the Michaelmas Term This is special course for Students desiring to pass the First Examination in December
