FACULTY OF MEDICAL SCIENCE 193 The complete List of Examining Bodies whose examinations fulfil the requirements of the Medical Council respecting Prelimin ary Education and also the conditions under which Students oan be Registered after commencing professional study may be obtained from the Registrar General Medical Council Office 44 Hallam Street Portland Place London At present the subjects of the Preliminary Examination in Arts are as follows English Elementary Mathematics language other than English An additional subject or subjects as required by the regulations of the particular examination to be chosen from the subjoined list viz History Geography Physical Science Natural Science Latin Greek Hebrew French German or other language accepted for the purpose Note -Intending Students are strongly advised to pass the Matriculation Examination of the University of London they will then on entering the College be registered as Internal Students of the University The subjects of the Pre-Registration Examination in Science are Elementary Chemistry and Elementary Physics but in London no separate examination of this nature is held The work for the exami- nation is included in the first year's course in the Preliminary Sciences so that in effect student cannot apply for registration with the General Medical Council until he has passed the First Examination for Medical Degrees or the Pre-Medioal Examination of the Conjoint Board COURSES OF STUDY FOR THE EXAMINATIONS OF THE LONDON UNIVERSITY Candidates for the Degrees of the University of London must pass or obtain exemption from the Matriculation examination prior to commencing medical studies Registration as Matriculated student follows automatically only on passing the Matriculation examination Should exemption be claimed by means of the London General Schools Certificate form to be obtained from the External Registrar must be filled up and if exemption is granted fee of seventeen shillings and sixpence must be paid for registration In respect of all other preliminary examinations the Certificate must be submitted to the External Registrar University of London student is not registered as having Matriculated in the University until he has received official notice to that effect Matriculation Examination The Examination is held three times year in September January and June co
