184 courses of study in chemical engineering themselves of these facilities and where possible to spend further period in carrying out research work for the degree of Sc or Ph in Chemical Engineering of the University of London In order that close touch shall be maintained with industry arrange- ments are made whereby lectures are delivered during the course by representatives of Chemical Manufacturers Plant Manufacturers Industrial Research Departments and similar organisations Visits to selected Works form an important feature of the course during term time and arrangements are made for students to spend part of the vacation periods in Works in order to gain actual industrial experience COLLEGE CERTIFICATE IN CHEMICAL ENGINEERING The Certificate in Chemical Engineering is awarded by the Delegacy of King's College on the recommendation of the Committee on Chemical Engineering appointed by the Professorial Board Examinations for the Certificate are held once year in the month of June or at such other time as shall hereafter be arranged The Regulations under which the Certificate is granted are as follows It is condition of entry to the course for the Certificate that candidate shall be Graduate who has obtained Science Degree with Chemistry as principal subject or an Engineer- ing Degree or Diploma and has reached the Intermediate standard in Chemistry of the London University or such qualification as shall be deemed by the Committee equivalent to the above candidate for the Certificate must have pursued his studies in Chemical Engineering as Regular Student in the Faculties of Science and Engineering for not less than three terms candidate must satisfy the Committee on Chemical Engineering as to his conduct attendance and progress in the courses for each of the subjects which he is required to attend according to the Syllabus He must pass Examinations in the following subjects unless exempted as below Materials of Construction and Basic Principles of Structural Design Mechanics of Fluids Theory of Machines Heat Engines Electrical Technology Satisfactory attendance implies attendance at the class examinations and the production of satisfactory record of practical work Absence from any class amounting to more than 20 per ocnt of the total number of hours of attendance possible will disqualify student from entering for the Certificate Examinations
