faculty of natural science 175 A3 -The Distribution ol Plants Prof Gates This course is specially designed for students in Geography One Lecture week in alternate years Time to be arranged A4 -Special Inter-Collegiate Courses Prof Gates Genetics for Students in Botany and Zoology Autumn Term Six lectures dealing more particularly with breeding work and cytology in alternate years the former being emphasized in 1937 Botanical Laboratories Research The Laboratories are open daily from 10-6 during Term Special facilities are provided for research in Cytology and Genetics In addition to the Cytological Laboratories at King's College an area in Regent's Park Gardens with buildings grounds and greenhouses has been set apart and is supported by an endowment from the Courtauld Fund for Botanical Research The facilities include tropical and temperate greenhouses potting sheds cold frames and Laboratory with temperate and tropical plants The Laboratory is fitted up mainly for the examination of genetical and the preparation of cytological material as well as for photographic work Various lines of genetical and cytological work are being carried on Researches are also being conducted in Plant Physiology Mycology and Algae Inter-Collegiate Courses joint scheme of advanced lectures in Botany is arranged between the various Colleges dealing mainly with recent advances in the subject special syllabus of these is issued each year by the University GEOLOGY Head of the Department William Thomas Gordon Se Vice-Pres Professor The Courses are designed for Students who take Geology as subject for the Sc degree and also for those who study this science as part of liberal education Thus the statement that Course is suitable for particular examination does not mean that attention is confined solely to the subjects mentioned in the syllabus for that examination Physical Geology Yj -Intermediate Science Lectures 12-1 The Earth as Planet-Its larger surface features-Atmospheric agents and their effects-Action of surface and underground waters and of ice-The Ocean its movements and work-Distribution of
