174 FACULTY OF NATURAL SCIENCE Special Sc Courses -Special Sc Lectures as for General Sc with additions Practical Class Th 10-1 2-5 Additional periods by arrangement Advanced Zoological Laboratory-open daily for Special Work and Research Inter-Collegiate Courses joint scheme of advanced leotures in Zoology has been arranged between University College King College the Imperial College of Science and Technology and Bedford College and Special Syllabus of theso is issued by the University BOTANY AND PLANT BIOLOGY Head of the Department Reginald Ruggles Gates Ph Sc LL Professor General Sc Courses -Intermediate Science Lectures Tu and 2-3 The instruction is based on the Schedule for the Intermediate Sc Examinations of the University of London in addition to the special study of the prescribed types consideration is given to the general principles of Plant Morphology Physiology Classification Heredity Cytology Evolution Ecology and Natural History of Plants Yj -Practical Class Tu 3-6 throughout the Session 10-1 Michaelmas Term -B Sc Two-Year Course Lectures 12-1 Tit 10-11 11-10 11 The subjects treated are as follows -Morphology and Phylogeny of all the Plant Groups practical applications of Botany Palaeophy- tology Plant Physiology and Biochemistry Cytology Genetics Classi- fication and Ecology of Plants -Practical Class M5-2 and Tu 2-5 Special Sc Courses Two Years -Lectures 12-1 Tu 10-11 Tu 12-1 10-11 Laboratory work 2-5 and Tu 2-5 or Th 10-1 and Th 2-5 together with 10-1 and 2-5 The Courses cover the various aspects of Botany and are divided into morphological and physiological groups of subjects A2 -Field Class in Ecology Miss Penston Arranged as Course of practical work on British Vegetation Meets on Saturdays during the Summer and Autumn Terms It is followed by Foray lasting one week in July during which some area in England or Wales is studied ecologically
