112 faculty of arts be made by graduates or by students in the last year of their degree course on special form which must be sent in not later than December 15th of the year preceding that in which the scholarship is to be awarded Selected candidates will be interviewed before February 1st All grant- earning students receive the Board of Education Certificate if successful in the Teacher's Diploma Examination Scholarship-holders must sign an undertaking that they intend to follow the profession of teacher in school or institution approved by the Board of Education Together with their application candidates both for Scholarships and for admission asfee-paying students must supply copies of two testimonials which provide evidence not only of character and ability but also of promise for the teaching profession One at least of these must be from University teacher under whom they have studied the names of persons to whom reference may be made can also be given The Advanced Study of Education Courses in preparation for the Degree These Courses commence in October of each Session and intending students should seek an interview with the head of the Department before the beginning of that month preferably towards the end of September those who desire to pursue their studies in Education on the psychological side are advised to apply in the first instance to the Institute of Education Southampton Row The lectures for the Course which normally extends over period of two years are arranged in conjunction with the Institute of Education and deal with the Principles of Education the History of Education and Comparative Education Those for the first year of the Course are given on Thursdays 30-6 30 at the Institute of Education and for the second-year Course on Wednesdays 30 -7 30 at King's College Both first- and second-year students meet together for Seminar Class at King's College on Wednesdays from 15-6 15 The students following this Course usually read for the Degree under section Î’ or of the University regulations for the though section candidates may occasionally be accepted It is important that those who are contemplating registration should before applying acquaint themselves with these regulations copy of which may be obtained from the Academic Registrar University of London and that they should decide for which section of the Course they have preference Ph The Course for the Ph which normally occupies two years for full-time students or four years for part-time students may be commenced in any term of the Session and as in the case of the Course intending students should consult the regulations of the University before seeking admission by interview with the head of the Department Ph students will be entitled to attend the same courses as those for the
