GENERAL INFORMATION 83 IV -FACULTIES OF NATURAL SCIENCE MEDICAL SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING FACULTY OF SCIENCE SOCIETY President Smith Secretory Cbaoos The membership of the Society is open to all students of the Science Faculty The object of the Society is to promote social intercourse among its members and to assist in all non-academical activities of its members Dances and other social functions are arranged every term Annual subscription Is MEDICAL SOCIETY President Moore Secretary Parkinson Every member of the Medical Faculty is member of the Society The object of the Society is to encourage debates and the reading of papers on subjects of interest to students of Medical Science Addresses are also given by well-known authorities on subjects of special interest At least three Meetings are held each Term at which tea is usually served Every effort will be made by the Society to give public lectures in aid of the Hospitals Dance is held each Term KING'S COLLEGE ENGINEERING SOCIETY President Reid Secretary Lawson Treasurer Professor Wilson This Society was formed in the Lent Term 1847 by the Students then in the Department of Applied Sciences for the purpose of reading papers on Scientific Subjects and discussing the questions thus brought forward and also for the purpose of taking in as far as the Funds of the Society permit those Scientific periodicals of the day which apply to the various branches of Engineering generally Meetings for the papers and discussions are held about once week during the Winter Session The Annual Dinner is held during the Michaelmas Term the Annual Dance Smoking Concert and Anniversary Meeting in the Lent Term
