iv ANNUAL REPORT Dean and Professor Bicknell The attendance at these lectures was most satisfactory 128 men and 96 women took the examination Prizes were awarded to men in the Faculties of Arts Science Medicine and Engineering and to women in Arts and Science There were no women medical candidates Public Lectures In the Lent Term the Bishop of Gloucester gave course of public lectures on Christian Unity which were subsequently published course on The Idea of the Church was given in the Easter Term by Dr Gore Dr Relton and Professor Turner of Oxford The Modera- tor of the United Church of Scotland delivered the Burge Memorial Lecture on the subject of Reunion and International Friendship Other lectures connected with the Department of Theology were course on The Church and the World by the Master of Selwyn College Cambridge course on Church Music arranged by Professor Rogers and the Drew Lecture by the Dean in the Memorial Hall on "The Destiny of the Soul Professor Karl Budde delivered six lectures at the invita- tion of the University in King College on Pictures of the Great Prophets The Chancellor of the University met the theological students of the University at King's College on February 17th and gave an address conference on Eucharistic Doctrine arranged by Dr Relton met in the Council Room under the chairmanship of the Archbishop of York and issued an important statement University Degrees Etc Four candidates took the degree of Two obtained honours in the post-graduate examination for the 2nd Class in Church His- tory and 3rd Class in Hebrew and Old Testament One candidate took the degree of Ph 15 students passed the Inter and in addition were referred in one subject Seven women students obtained the Lam- beth Diploma the London Diploma the Diploma in Literary and Comparative Study of the Bible and the Certificate in Religious Knowledge Associateship Eighty-three Associates were elected during the Session Theology 41 Engineering Arts 21 Medical Science 15 This total compares with 65 last year The Rev Canon Simpson Oriel Professor of Hebrew in the University of Oxford acted as External Examiner for the examination for the Associateship in the Faculty of Theology The report which he drew up on the examination was received with much pleasure by the Council The Annual Reunion of the Theological Society was held in the College on Whit-Tuesday The Principal read paper in the afternoon
