210 FACULTY OF ENGINEERING and that the greater part of their training must of necessity be obtained in aotual Engineering Work The College provides preliminary Workshop training in the First Year see 230 CANDIDATES FOR THE INDIAN PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT Candidates for the Indian Public Works Department are required in addition to their three years1 College theoretical training as certified by University Degree or some equivalent Diploma to have had some experience in Engineering Works of importance Students intending to prepare for the Indian Public Works Depart- ment should obtain the full regulations from the Under Secretary of State India Office Whitehall and should then consult the Dean as to the Course to be taken SPECIAL LECTURES AND COURSES Special Lectures are arranged to be given during the Session by Specialists in various subjects connected with Civil Mechanical and Electrical Engineering These Lectures are free to Students of the Engineering Faculty of the College and are open to other persons on payment of fee For particulars see 234 POST-GRADUATE COURSES Courses are arranged as required for Post-Graduate Students in Civil Mechanical Electrical and Chemical Engineering For par- ticulars see 234 COLLEGE ENTRANCE EXAMINATION All candidates for admission to the College who have not already passed the Matriculation Examination of the University of London or an equivalent will be required to take the College Entrance Examination which is held at the beginning of the Academical Year The Syllabus will be found on 218 For the conditions under which this examination exempts from the Studentship Ex- amination of the Engineering Institutions see 218 SCHOLARSHIPS PRIZES AND CERTIFICATES Sambrooke Scholarship of £50 per annum for years and Founders' Company Scholarship of £40 per annum for years will be offered in April see 56
