FACULTY OF MEDICAL SCIENCE 195 The subjects of the Pre-Registration Examination in Science are Elementary Chemjstry and Elementary Physics but in London no separate examination of this nature is held The work for the exami- nation is included in the first year's course in the Preliminary Sciences so that in effect student cannot apply for registration with the General Medical Council until he has passed the Eirst Examination for Medical Degrees or the Pre-Medical Examination of the Conjoint Board COURSES OF STUDY FOR THE EXAMINATIONS OF THE LONDON UNIVERSITY Candidates for the Degrees of the University of London must pass or obtain exemption from the Matriculation examination prior to commencing medical studies Registration as Matriculated student follows automatically only on passing the Matriculation examination Should exemption be claimed by means of the London General Schools Certificate form to be obtained from the External Registrar must be filled up and if exemption is granted fee of seventeen shillings and sixpence must be paid for registration In respect of all other preliminary examinations the Certificate must be submitted to the External Registrar University of London South Kensington student is not registered as having Matricu- lated in the University until he has received official notice to that effect Matriculation Examination The Examination is held three times year in September January and June English Mathematics Arithmetic Algebra and Geometry and foreign language are compulsory subjects and two further selected subjects must be offered Full particulars may be obtained from the External Registrar University of London South Kensington There is special class in the College conducted by Hubert Brinton devoted to preparation for this and other entrance examina- tions First Examination for Medical Degrees Held in July and December Inorganic Chemistry Botany Physics including Mechanics Zoology Second Examination for Medical Degrees Held in March and July Part Organic Chemistry
