COUBSES OF STUDY IN CHEMICAL ENGINEERING 185 General Theoretical Chemistry Principles of Organic Chemistry Physical and Reaction Treatment of Materials including the General Principles of Factory Organisation and Manage- ment in Chemical Works Students who have previously studied any of the above subjects to sufficient standard may apply to the Chemical Engineering Committee for exemption from the Course and Examination therein INSTITUTION OF CHEMICAL ENGINEERS Students who have passed creditably through the Course and who have obtained certificate to that effect are exempted from the Associate-Membership Examination of the Institution of Chemical Engineers Such students will be admitted to Associate-Membership on the completion of at least two years' practical experience of kind satisfactory to the Institution FEES Tuition Fees 35 guineas per annum for students taking the Course as Third Year course qualifying for the Degree 30 guineas per annum for Graduates 24 guineas per annum for students whose names are on the Register of Graduates of the College Apparatus and Materials Fees Students are required to pay deposit of £5 This fee is returnable on the completion of their course of study less charges for loss or breakages of apparatus charge of £2 2s is made for the use of tools and materials required for the course in Workshop Practice SYLLABUS OF CLASSES FOR CHEMISTRY STUDENTS Sj -Materials of Construction and Basic Principles of Structural Design Professor Cook Mr Cremer and Mr Giffen Nature and properties of the more important materials employed in the construction of plant metals alloys timber stoneware brick concrete refractories-Resistance to corrosion and to stresses in service due to loading and temperature-Stresses and deflections set up in structural members and machine parts 20 Lectures
