PRIZES 69 One Prize is open to all regular students in the Faculties of Arts and Natural Science in the Intermediate Year second Prize is open to all regular students in the Faculties of Arts and Natural Science in the first or subsequent years of their Final Course and third Prize is open to all regular students in the Faculty of Engineering Note -Three Prizes are now proposed in place of two awarded annually hitherto The Prizes will be awarded annually on the result of the year's work in the respective courses in the Department of Geology -Prizes in Natural Science open to Students in Specified Subjects 1bare pri3e This Prize was founded in 1917 by George Hare in memory of his son Stanley Grant Hare former student of the Medical Science Faculty who fell at the head of his Platoon in the charge against the Turks at Gaza April 1917 The Prize consists of books or instruments to the value of Ā£2 10s The Prize will be awarded annually to the student who in the first year shall have most distinguished himself in the Class Examinations in Zoology 30bn fibular tlbomson flbebal for Cbemistry This Medal was founded in 1930 by Professor Smiles and Professor Allmand to commemorate the services rendered to the College and to chemical education by Professor John Millar Thomson LL who first became member of the staff of the Department of Chemistry in 1871 and who retired in 1914 after having served for twenty-seven years as Daniell Professor and Head of the Department of Chemistry The Medal is open to all regular students who have studied for at least two years in the Department of Chemistry The Medal will be awarded annually to the student who in the opinion of the Principal and the Professors of Chemistry shall have most distinguished himself in the final year of the Special Honours Course in the Department of Chemistry -FACULTY OF MEDICAL SCIENCE Xeatbes 113es The Leathes Prizes were founded by the late Philip Hammersley Leathes Esq of Union Row Peckham Surrey in 1834 to be awarded to two Medical Students for their proficiency during the past
