PRIZES 67 TLhc 50bn IDarsball fl ri3e This Prize was founded in 1926 by Miss Ada Blanch Marshall in memory of her brother the late John Marshall Trinity College Cambridge The Prize is of the value of £28 105 The John Marshall Prize shall be awarded in every other year to the Student whether undergraduate or postgraduate who is recommended to the Principal by the Faculty of Arts after receiving report from the Director of the School of Slavonic Studies as most proficient in any of the languages taught in that School But at such time as the Principal after consultation with the Professors of the School of Slavonic Studies shall consider that the number of Students of the Russian language is such that the Prize may properly be devoted to the encouragement of the Russian language only the Prize shall be awarded in the manner aforesaid to the Student who is most proficient in the Russian language Ipalacfey pri3ee in C3ecboslov afe Stubies In memory of the Czech historian Frantisek Palacky 1798-1876 prizes to the amount of £50 will be awarded by the Czech Academy in Prague for successful essays on subjects connected with history literature language or economics of Czechoslovakia Bohemia Moravia Silesia Slovakia or Ruthenia The prizes are open to graduates of British Universities who can use in their research original Slavonic sources Where merits are approximately equal preference will be given to the students of the School of Slavonic Studies who are engaged in or are prepared to undertake the course of study either in the Honours or for the Degree of Ph or for the Diploma in Czechoslovak The amount of each prize will be fixed with reference to the value of the work submitted This and other details will be determined by the Professorial Board of King's College on the recommendation of the School of Slavonic Studies The date for submitting these essays is July lst 1931 JEarl£ JEnglisb XTejt Society ri3e The Early English Text Society gives annually Prize of Books for the best work in Early English subjects in the Department of English ibubert all fl ri3e for ipalaeograpbp This Prize was founded in 1927 from funds contributed by the pupils and friends of Hubert Hall Litt to celebrate his 70th birth- day Dr Hubert Hall was Reader in Palaeography from 1920 to 1926 The Prize consists of books to the value of £5
