4S SCHOLARSHIPS AND EXHIBITIONS Candidates must be under 19 years of age on May 1st in the year of election The Scholarship is open to men and women The following are the subjects of the examination -The writing of an English Essay and either Latin and Greek or ii two of the following subjects-English Language and Literature History Geography French German The successful Candidate will be required to enter the Faculty of Arts at King's College as an Internal Student of the University of London in October next following the examination with the under- standing that he will proceed to an Honours Degree in Arts in the University of London The payments will be made in nine terminal instalments pro- vided the Student continues in attendance as Regular Student in the Day Classes and produces to the Secretary at the end of each Term Certificate of good conduct and of satisfactory progress signed by the Dean of the Faculty The next Examination will be held in April by the London Inter- Collegiate Scholarships Board Candidates should apply in February to Mr Ranner Secretary of the Board King's College Hospital Medical School for form of entry which must be sent in in March Ibenrg meville Gladstone Scbolarsbip The Scholarship was established in 1929 in connection with the Centenary Scholarships and Bursaries Fund and bears the name of Mr Henry Neville Gladstone in honour of the chief donor to the Fund The conditions of award are the same as those for the Sambrooke Scholarship in Arts Jnglis Stubentsbip Founded 1857 by George Monckton Esq of Somerford Hall Penkridge and others in memory of the Right Honourable Sir Robert Harry Inglis Baronet The regulations were revised in 1911 and again in 1923 Two Studentships are offered annually one in English one in History and are open to all regular students of the University of London King's College who shall have completed at least six College terms The value of the Studentship will be £85 together with free tuition for one Session but the emolument will be increased up to maximum of £100 whenever the finances of the Fund permit The Studentships will be awarded on the results of the Honours Examination of the University of London in English and History on the recommendations of the Heads of the Departments of English and History
