vi ANNUAL REPORT Council The following have been elected members of the Council -Lord Davidson of Lambeth Professor Bicknell Professor Jenkins and the Rev Max Williams The Court re-elected Sir Lulham Pound Sir Herbert Jackson Mr Η Bothamley the Right Rev Dr Perrin Mr LI Atkinson and the Rev Newsom Finance General Account -The Council are glad to report that the financial position of the Theological Department continues to be satisfactory The income from fees amounted to £5 864 3s 2d an increase of £641 on the previous year The grant from the Ecclesiastical Commissioners remains at £4 000 of which £500 is allotted to the Exhibitions and Bursaries Account The Council are particularly gratified to report that on account of the improvement of the financial situation they have been able to make further increase in the salaries of the full-time members of the teaching staff The year's working resulted in credit balance of £679 18s 3c and the accumulated surplus is now £1 764 7s Id Corporation General Fund Account -The Corporation continues to receive about £400 for rent of rooms leased to University of London King's College but from the commencement of the present session this will be reduced by £45 per annum as the Council have resumed pos- session of Room 16c hitherto leased to the Delegacy With interest on loans and bank deposit and sundry other income the balance in hand has been increased from £1 512 15s lid to £2 005 14s which is being temporarily used in the financing of the cost of the new wing of the Hostel Theological Hostel Account -The financial position of the Hostel continues to be satisfactory and the year's working resulted in credit balance of £680 16s 9d This balance has been transferred to the Reserve Fund thereby raising that fund to £850 2s 2d The Council have transferred £600 of this balance to the Hostel Building Fund Benefactions Mention was made in the Report of last year of various generous benefactions made through the Centenary Appeal Fund and report of further contributions is given below in the section dealing with the Centenary Fund The Council have also to record their thanks to Mr Thornton for painting The Unbelief of St Thomas attributed to Guercino to Miss Lee for painting by Poussin to Dr Raymond Crawford the Rev Marriott Mrs Downes Mrs Harris and Miss Williams
