GENERAL INFORMATION 43 reduction equal to 20 per cent in the tuition fees is made in the case of boys who have passed at least five terms in King's College School or Strand School Regular Student may take any Class not being Laboratory Class in any other Faculty at reduction of 20 per cent in the specified fee of the class LIBRARIES Librarian Walton Assistant Librarian Hales Student Librarian The General Library is well supplied with books for the use of Students attending the various courses in the College large number of periodicals is taken in The following rules are enforced The Library is to be used for the purposes of reference and study only silence and strict attention to the directions of the Librarian must be observed All books used in the Library are to be returned to their proper places on the shelves Students are allowed to take out certain books for their private use at home by applying to one of the Library Staff and filling up form supplied for the purpose Dictionaries Encyclopsedias Grammars and other books specially marked are not allowed to be taken out of the Library In addition to the General Library there are The Marsden Library consisting of books bequeathed by Dr William Marsden containing unique and rare editions of works dealing with different languages The oriental books from this collection have been deposited on loan at the School of Oriental Studies and in their place books on History Science and other subjects have been transferred to King's College The Catalogue by Dr Marsden is in print and copy is kept in the Librarian's Room The Wheatstone Library bequeathed to the College by Pro- fessor Sir Charles Wheatstone which consists of valuable books on Electricity and kindred subjects up to the year 1875 The Skeat and Furnivall Library formed from the libraries of Professor Skeat and Dr Furnivall The books were presented to the English Department by the late Mrs Skeat and Dr Percy Furnivall The Slavonic Library which contains collection of books dealing with Russian and other Slavonic languages Some of these books were bequeathed to the College by Dr Ronald Burrows Principal of the College 1913-1920 These books are now housed at 40 Torrington Square The Mediaeval and Modern Greek Library to which also Dr Burrows left many of his books some of unique value dealing with
