xlii ANNUAL REPORT FACULTY OF ENGINEERING The number of students in the Faculty of Engineering during the Session 1928-29 was as follows Year Degree Diploma only Special Total 33 41 II 29 31 III 33 38 Post-graduate 10 Total 120 In the Final Examination for the degree of Sc Eng the following results were obtained lst Class Honours 2nd Class Honours 11 Pass 12 Fail in sVJ li1 ini WWff Absent In addition to the above student jointly from King's College and the Northampton Polytechnic Institute obtained Second Class Honours in the Internal Sc Eng Examination and obtained Pass Degree External Two students took the Final Examination for the Diploma only Nineteen students were awarded the College Diploma and 12 were awarded the Certificate in Engineering Professor Ernest Wilson was elected Dean of the Faculty in succes- sion to Professor Cook and entered upon his duties in January 1929 Professor Cook accepted the Vice-Deanship and continued his Chairmanship of the Collegiate Committee Mr Davies was appointed by the Faculty as their representative of the Junior Staff on the Professorial Board Owing to the absence of Professor Cook in South Africa Professor Jameson officiated as Acting Chairman of the Collegiate Committee for Degree Examinations and he was ably assisted by Mr Giffen in the compilation of the Examination statistics Mr Ī¤ Bulman was awarded an Industrial Bursary by the Royal Commission of the Exhibition of 1851 The Post-graduate Course in Chemical Engineering was in operation during the year and proved to be well adapted to the purpose for which it was formed The results of the Examinations held were satisfactory Department op Civil Engineering The number of Third Year students in the Department increased to 20 and in addition there were Post-graduate students Research on the Hydraulics of Flow continues in the Department The first stage of the experimental study of flow in curved pipes was
