xl ANNUAL REPOBT Results of Examinations Candidates Passed Lond ii Part 56 42 Lond 42 17 44 32 28 17 Researches Research work was actively engaged in although handicapped by the heavy teaching demands upon the relatively small Staff of the Department The nature of the researches completed during the Session is indicated by the titles of publications see Appendix III New Developments The addition of second Grade II Attendant during the Session allowed further use to be made of the technical skill of the Senior Attendant in aid of Research Further additions to the research apparatus were purchased particularly vacuum pump for use in embedding and other work wax model representing dissections of the Head and Neck was presented to the Museum by Mr Edward McLellan former student in the Department The special courses in preparation for the primary Examination instituted last Session were continued with gratifying success Departmental Notes Mr Wakeley was promoted Surgeon to King's College Hospital in April 1929 he continued to examine in Anatomy for the Primary Examination In February 1929 he gave Hunterian Lecture at the Royal College of Surgeons on Tumours of the Intestinal Tract and has been appointed Erasmus Wilson Lecturer for Session 1929-30 Dr Gladstone continued to act as Recorder to the Anatomical Society of Great Britain and Ireland Professor Blair was appointed Acting Secretary to the Anatomical Society during Professor Barclay-Smith's absence abroad He again gave by invitation two lectures on Applied Anatomy to the Surgical School at King's College Hospital During the Session the Teaching Staff of the Department was again supplemented by temporary helpers Mr Bird was appointed Student Demonstrator for the Session and for shorter periods Mr Tucker and Mr Edward McLellan acted as Honorary Demonstrators Department of Physiology Number of Students The total number of students in the Department was 245 Of these 96 were reading for Medical Degree 60 for the Diploma of
