ANNUAL REPORT XXXV Intermediate Science 32 General Honours 29 Special Honours 20 Medical 62 Dental 12 Engineering 42 Others 40 Total 237 Results of Examinations Eleven students took the Special Pinal Examination in July 1929 Of these obtained First Class Honours and were placed in the Second Class Higher Degrees Ph Mr Cohen Mr Nickels and Mr Taylor were awarded the degree of Ph Researches Nineteen Graduates and others were engaged in research work in the Department during the Session Departmental Notes During the continued absence of Mr Fairbourne at Messrs Lever Bros Ltd Dr McClelland acted as Lecturer in Organic Chemistry During the Session further progress was made in the equipment of the Chemical Engineering Laboratory The course of study in this subject drawn up in co-operation with the Engineering Department has received the approval of the Institution of Chemical Engineers Classes in this subject were held throughout the Session Professor Allmand was elected Fellow of the Royal Society and member of the University Senate Department of Zoology Number of Students There were 122 students in the Department during the Session 1928-29 the numbers in the various categories being as follows Intermediate Science 12 First Medical 54 Conjoint 13 Dental Anatomy 18 Second Year Honours Special General Subsidiary Third Year Honours Special Subsidiary Geography Post-graduate "3 ×™×™ Total 122
