xiv ANNUAL REPORT Faculty of Medical Science 253 255 of whom 133 135 were taking course for Degree and 120 120 the Examinations of the Conjoint Board in the Faculty of Engineering 110 111 of whom 96 94 were taking course for Degree and 14 17 course for the College Diploma in the Faculty of Laws 45 30 all of whom were taking course for Degree and in the Faculty of Theology 171 161 of whom 42 34 were taking course for Degree and the remainder the course for the Associateship of King's College In the six Faculties there were thus 1349 1291 full-time students In addition there were 160 154 evening students taking course for Degree exclusive of evening students in Theology 130 122 in the Faculty of Arts 11 in the Faculty of Natural Science and 24 21 in the Faculty of Laws There were also 164 182 students of whom 93 96 were full-time and 71 86 part-time taking course for higher degree in the various Faculties In addition 27 students were taking other Post-graduate or Post-diploma courses and 16 29 were engaged in independent research There were also in the College 212 281 part-time students day and evening who were taking course for first Diploma In addition there were 804 838 occasional students who were attending lectures not leading to Degree or Diploma The Gilbart Lectures on Banking delivered at the College were attended by 2000 2000 persons there were 666 549 students in attendance at different Intercollegiate Lectures and the Preliminary Class was attended by 62 53 students exclusive of 41 75 students who attended the evening Preliminary Class arranged by the Theological Department Studies Nine students in the Faculty of Arts compared with 11 last year and including in the Department of English in that of French and in each of the Departments of Spanish Geography History and Classics obtained First Class One student in the Faculty of Laws was placed in the First Class In the Faculty of Natural Science 15 students compared with 21 last year and including in the Department of Physics in that of Chemistry in Geology in Zoology in Mathematics and in the General Examination were awarded First Class Six students in the Faculty of Engineering were placed in the First Class The total number of students in the four Faculties who were awarded First Class was 31 compared with 35 last year The University Grants Committee visited the College on February 18th 1929 inspected the various Departments and received reports upon the needs of the College The problem of the future provision of adequate facilities for the Medical Education of Women remains unsettled The consequences to the College were indicated in the last report It can only be hoped
