ANNUAL REPORT vii Sir Charles Wakefield has for many years given to the Delegacy and its Finance Committee the benefit of his great experience of affairs and has been an active member of the governing body of the College whose loss will be severely felt The new Statutes creating King's College of Household and Social Science as an independent School of the University rendered Miss Helene Reynard ineligible for re-election as the representative of the Board of Principal Teachers of King's College for Women The following appointments to the Delegacy have been made by the Senate in the course of the Session 1928-29 In the place of the late Viscount Hambleden the Delegacy have been fortunate to be able to welcome the Right Hon Lord Blanesburgh who was unanim- ously elected Chairman In the place of Mr English Harrison Sir William Waterlow was appointed member of the Delegacy No one proved now to be eligible for election by the Board of Principal Teachers of King's College for Women and the Senate appointed Mr Power partner in Smith and Son to fill the vacancy so caused Professor Blair was nominated by the Professorial Board of King's College in succession to Professor McDowall The vacancy caused by the retirement of Sir Charles Wakefield has not yet been filled Changes in the Staff Resignations -Miss Levett Reader in Economic History resigned her position owing to her appointment to the University Professorship of History tenable at Westfield College Miss May Yardley resigned the post of Assistant in the Department of Education on being appointed to the Staff of Greystoke Training College Dr VoSadlo resigned the post of Lecturer in Czecho-Slovak Language and Literature Mr Davis resigned his appointment as Assistant Lecturer in Mathematics in order to join the Staff of St Paul's School Dr Childs resigned his appointment as Demonstrator in Physics on being awarded Rockefeller Foundation Fellowship Mr Linton resigned the post of Demonstrator in Geology and Geography on being appointed Lecturer in Geography in the University of Edinburgh Dr Cook resigned the post of Demonstrator in Botany on being appointed Assistant Lecturer at Bristol University Mr Christy resigned his appointment as Part-time Demonstrator in the Department of Physiology Mr Lloyd Williams resigned his appointment as Demonstrator in Dental Histology New Appointments Faculty of Arts -Miss Page was appointed Assistant Lecturer in the Department of History In the Department of French Miss Μ McKechnie was promoted from the status of Part-time Assistant Lecturer to that of Full-time Assistant Lecturer and Monsieur Delavenay Madame Vigne and Mademoiselle Gallas were appointed Assistants for the Session 1929-30 At the beginning of the Session Mr Raven was appointed Assistant Lecturer in
