vi ANNUAL REPORT the cost amounting approximately to £645 of the installation of electric light carried out by the Council during the Long Vacation Benefactions The Council record with gratitude the following benefactions £25 from Professor Claude Jenkins to the Hostel Building Fund an annual donation of £5 by Professor Η Relton for Prize in Theology and £4 13s in small sums by various donors for the Theological Women Students' Fund £5 from Dr Matthews to the Centenary Fund Theological Hostel Building Fund section Hostel The Hostel has been full during the whole Session and the life has proceeded normally An increasing number of students from other Faculties has applied for admission and eleven have been in residence during the year Professor Barry has continued to act as Assistant Warden and Mr Tasker has succeeded Mr Houghton as Resident Tutor Mr Heawood who had been in residence for the past two years and had given great assistance in the management of the Hostel has left to be married Some of the clerical work which he did has been taken over by the College Office and the rest has been under- taken by Mr Tasker The Hostel Committee has appointed small sub-committee which dines once month at the Hostel to meet the House Committee and to transact other business This system has been found to work well and serves to bring the Hostel Committee in closer touch with the students Professor Jenkins and the Secretary have rendered great service to the Hostel by their work on this Com- mittee Grand Night" was held as usual in November and the number of old Hostellers who attended was larger than in any previous year The Hostel has been lent during the vacations to several conferences and vacation schools The Vacation School for the study of the Old Testament in which the College is specially interested was again held in September Examinations for Outside Bodies The Rev Hollis acted as examiner in the annual Divinity examination in St Katharine's College Tottenham and the Rev Hanson was nominated by the Theological Faculty as examiner in the General Ordination Examination The General Strike The General Strike caused grave dislocation in the work of the Faculty during the Easter term and it was found necessary to postpone the final examinations for fortnight The Council decided to permit those students who were in residence at the Hostel and who were affected by this decision to reside for the additional time without
