ANNUAL REPORT xi recording Professor Dendy's gifts to the College has been placed on wall in the Department of Zoology The Rhodes Trustees increased their grant to the Rhodes Chair of Imperial History to £600 per annum An anonymous donor has endowed Post-Graduate Scholarship open to students from Czecho-Slovak Universities during the Session 1926-7 of the value of £150 Sir Charles Wakefield made further donation to the School of Slavonic Studies of £50 for the purchase of books for the library and £200 was also received for general purposes from an anonymous donor prize in Slavonic Studies to be called the John Marshall Prize '1 was instituted by Miss Marshall in memory of her brother John Marshall of Trinity College Cambridge The prize is to be awarded regularly to the student recommended to the Principal by the Faculty of Arts after receiving report from the Director Qf the School of Slavonic Studies as most proficient in any of the languages taught in the School When the number of students of the Russian language is held to be sufficient the prize will be awarded in that language only The Roumanian Government made an additional annual grant to increase the salary of the Lecturer in Roumanian Language and Literature The late Mr William Stebbing bequeathed £150 to the Council of King's College to provide an annual prize for English Verse or Prose Through the generosity of Dr Inchley prize in Pharmacology of the value of £5 per annum has been instituted The prize is open to medical students of the College who have completed the course in Pharmacology on the results of the College examination Mr Negus Honorary Lecturer in Laryngology gave donation of £25 to the Medical Research Fund instituted by the College during the session Colonel Parsons and his brothers presented to the College the portrait of their father the late Hon Parsons Λνΐιίοΐι had been placed in the Council Room on loan Mr Edwards presented water- colour painting by Luther Hooper of the Strand in the neighbourhood of the College as it appeared in 1910 The late Mr James Assistant Lecturer in Mathematics bequeathed to the College the library of mathematical books which he had collected Professor Somerville presented to the College the microscope and the books which he had used in his teaching work in the Department of Public Health Miss Gwinnell presented Relief Model of Central Skye and the Northern Clyde which had been prepared and published by her father Mr Russell Gwinnell Sc The Radio Research Board made grant in addition to another sum for apparatus in aid of the special work conducted by Professor Appleton and also enabled him to secure the services of Research Assistant Mr Boving Managing Director of Hydrautomet Limited presented for use in the Civil Engineering Department
