vni ANNUAL REPORT Degree exclusive of evening students in Theology -112 105J in the Faculty of Arts 19 35 in the Faculty of Natural Science and 48 28 in the Faculty of Laws There were also 183 173 students of whom 114 119 were full-time and 69 54 part-time taking course for higher Degree in the various Faculties In addition 18 12 students were engaged in independent research and 45 19 were taking various Post-graduate or Post-diploma courses There were also in the College 307 310 part-time students day and evening who were taking course for first Diploma In addition there were 663 903 occasional students who were attending courses not leading to Degree or Diploma The Gilbart Lectures on Banking delivered at the College were attended by 1900 1800 persons there were 598 454 students in attendance at different Inter-collegiate Lectures and the preliminary class was attended by 66 78 students exclusive of 53 64 students who attended the evening preliminary class arranged by the Theological Department Studies Of the 120 Post-graduate students 89 men and 31 women all taking full-time courses who were working in the College during the session there were 52 in the Faculty of Arts 32 men and 20 women 60 in that of Natural Science 49 men and 11 women in the Faculty of Engineer- ing men and in the Faculty of Laws men The total number of full-time students in the four Faculties of Arts Natural Science Medical Science and Engineering was 1038 as compared with 1045 in the previous session Of these 802 were registered with the University as Internal students Eleven students in the Faculty of Arts compared with 15 last year and including in the Department of English in that of History in that of Classics and each in the Departments of French Psychology Geography and Mathematics obtained First Class In the Faculty of Natural Science 17 students compared with 13 last year and including who sat for the Examination for General Honours in the Department of Physics in the Department of Chemistry in that of Mathematics and each in the Departments of Geology and Psychology were awarded First Class Fifteen of the students in the Faculty of Engineering compared with 12 last year were placed in the First Class In all 43 students of the College compared with 40 last year were placed in the First Class in the three Faculties of Arts Natural Science and Engineering In addition students were placed in the First Class in the Faculty of Laws In March 1926 the Faculties of Arts and Science were inspected by the University The Inspectors in Arts were Sir Richard Lodge and Professor Chambers Sir Joseph Thomson and Professor Watson were the Inspectors in the Faculty of Science
