FACULTY OF ENGINEEBDiG 213 FIRST YEAR EXAMINATION This Examination is identical with the University Intermediate Engineering Examination For subjects see 206 Candidates for Diploma or Certificate are required to have satisfactorily attended the lectures both in Chemistry and Geology SECOND YEAR EXAMINATION The courses for and subjects of this Examination are identical with those of the Part Degree Examination see 207 Candidates for the Diploma are required to pass in Strength and Elasticity of Materials and in Mathematics and in at least four of the remaining subjects of this Examination Candidates for the Certificate must pass in any five of the subjects of this Examination THIRD YEAR EXAMINATION The courses for and subjects of this Examination are identical with those of the Part II Degree Examination see 208 Candidates for the Diploma are required to pass in not less than five of the subjects in one of the Groups or and to attain standard of marks in the combined Second and Third Year Examinations equivalent to at least Second Class Candidates for the Certificate are required to pass in not less than four of the subjects in one of the Groups or The Diploma is accepted by the Institution of Civil Engineers as exempting from Sections and Β of the Associate Membership Examination provided that Mathematics is taken as subject η Part and Part II the Examination in modern foreign language has been passed either at the Entrance Examination or Matriculation Examination or at some later stage The Diploma is accepted by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers as exempting from Sections and Β of the Associate Membership Examination The Diploma or Certificate is accepted by the Institution of Electrical Engineers as exempting from the Associate Membership Examination provided that electrical subjects are taken The Certificate or Diploma of student who has satisfactorily undertaken not less than four months' practical training during his Course will be endorsed to that effect on production of certificate from the employer -In all subjects for the Diploma and Certificate other than Mathematics Chemistry of Metals and Engineering Geology an ex- amination of the Student's Course work forms an integral part of the examination
